To help support fellow bereaved families in a time of need, walk in the sunshine of their children, and be a solace to families who need support.
About
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports families going through pregnancy, infant, or child loss. We offer in-person Christian and Catholic faith-based support groups (all are welcome) for bereaved parents in southeastern Wisconsin, child workshops for siblings ages 3 and up, and virtual support groups for families outside the area.
We gift Sunshine boxes with helpful resources and comfort items, breastmilk and hair jewelry, resin crosses made from funeral or important flowers, help finding mental health therapists, and financial support for monuments when we are able.
Gunner is our 5½-month-old baby boy, who went to heaven, suddenly and unexpectedly, in his sleep. He is forever our Sunshine. He is a loving son of Kyle and Carly, and a little brother to Dakota and Mason.
Suffering through this traumatic event identified areas for support and improvement when it comes to child loss. It opened our eyes to ways we can pay it forward, in Gun-Gun's honor.

Carly Lewin
Mother, founding officer, president
Carly’s biggest and most important role is a mother. She loves to connect with families during these hard times, to provide support, compassion, and an ear to listen. Her faith has been her strongest coping mechanism during her own family’s hardships. She strives to serve others with God and Gunner walking beside her.

Kyle Gresk
Father, cofounding officer, vice president
Kyle is eager to connect with bereaved fathers, as men and women tend to grieve differently. He likes to work through issues he can fix or solve, so you might find him in the garage making a family a custom birdhouse. He brings so much passion to this cause, rooted in his own experience of losing Gunner.

Amanda Tomasetti
Director of finance
Amanda graduated in 2020 with an MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. She has more than five years of experience in finance. She enjoys working with numbers, digging into data, and contributing to a team.

Lauren Evans
Board director
Lauren comes from a large family and hopes to start one of her own one day. As Carly’s childhood friend, the losses her family has suffered have also affected her deeply. She supports Guardian Gunner’s mission by driving behind-the-scenes operations and the board’s fundraising.

Erika Evans
Grief coordinator
Erika is a certified grief support specialist and social worker. She accompanies the grieving with non-judgmental, compassionate listening and grief education. Walking with Carly and her family after the loss of Gunner has been a life-changing privilege. She has watched God work in their family, shining light into and through the darkness. Erika has been married to Al for 33 years, is a mother of eight adults and young adults, and a joyful grandmother of two. By God’s grace she finds strength, hope, and wisdom in her relationship with Jesus Christ. She respects each person’s journey of faith as sacred and personal.
We can fulfill our purpose of motherhood and fatherhood, even once our children are in heaven.
